⏱️ Saving time and avoiding the queues
Attestation is the slowest item in the whole application, and almost all of the lost time is repeat trips rather than processing. A few things cut it down sharply:
- Go in the right order: IBCC → HEC → MOFA. MOFA will not stamp a document that HEC or IBCC has not already attested, so arriving out of order means a wasted trip.
- Get several attested sets in one visit. You will need copies for uni-assist, for each university, and for the visa file. Going back for more copies is the most common repeat trip of all.
- Book online instead of walking in. HEC takes appointments through its e-services portal; the walk-in counter is where the long queues are.
- Take the first slot of the day, and avoid Mondays and the day after a public holiday — both absorb the previous backlog.
- Check more than one regional centre. HEC and MOFA operate outside Islamabad; a less crowded city can be faster overall even counting travel.
- Start before you have an admission letter. Attestation does not depend on admission, and it is the item most likely to hold up the visa file later.
- Carry originals, photocopies and your CNIC every time. A missing photocopy is one of the most common reasons to be turned away at the counter.
- Ask whether a representative or courier is accepted before assuming you must attend in person — where it is allowed, it removes the queue entirely.
Procedures, portals and counter hours change. Confirm the current process on each body's own website before you travel.
Shortlist programmes you qualify for, then work through what each one actually asks for.
Sit the tests each shortlisted programme asks for, and prepare the paperwork you write yourself.
Send each application through the right portal, and check the details that get applications rejected.
Accept the offer, arrange health insurance, then enrol — so the admission letter is ready for the visa file.
