Phase 6: Applying to Universities

University's own portal

Pick a university and go straight to its application portal.

Applying on the university's own portal

Not every application goes through uni-assist. Pick your university below to go straight to the system it actually wants you to apply in.

Who this page is for

Only universities where you submit the application on their own portal are listed — including uni-assist VPD universities, because a VPD is only an evaluation: uni-assist issues the document, and you still make the real application on the university's system afterwards. Universities that handle everything through uni-assist's standard procedure are deliberately left out; for those, the uni-assist step is the whole story.

Pick a university from the suggestions — type a few letters and choose one from the list.

What applying on a university portal is like

  • You register an account first, and it is separate from every other university's. Expect a different login, a different applicant number and a different interface at each one.
  • Your applicant number matters. Note it down when it is issued — it is what any email to the admissions office needs to quote, and recovering it later is slow.
  • The portal is where decisions appear. Many universities post admission offers, rejections and requests for missing documents in the portal and never email them, or email only a bare "there is news" notice. Log in and check regularly.
  • Submitting is a separate action from filling in. A completed form left unsubmitted is not an application, and the portal will happily keep it in draft past the deadline.
  • Uploads are usually final. Most portals will not let you replace a file once the application is submitted. Read every PDF before you attach it.

Do not reach the portal through a search engine

Application portals are a standing target for lookalike sites that collect application fees and personal documents. Reach yours from a link on the university's own domain — the ones above, or from the university website you navigated to yourself — and check the address bar before you type anything. No legitimate German public university asks for an application fee by card on a page you found through an advertisement.

Before you hit submit

  1. Check the deadline in the portal itself, and the time zone it is in — German local time, 3–4 hours behind Pakistan.
  2. Confirm your name matches your passport exactly, in the same order.
  3. Re-check every uploaded PDF opens, is the right document, and is complete.
  4. If a VPD is required, make sure it is attached — not just requested.
  5. Take a screenshot or PDF of the confirmation page, and keep the confirmation email.
  6. Log back in a day later and confirm the status actually reads as submitted.

✅ Quick action plan

  1. Use the picker above for each university on your shortlist that applies on its own portal.
  2. Register an account at each, and record the login and applicant number somewhere you will still have in six months.
  3. Where a VPD is needed, get that moving first — it takes 4–6 weeks and the portal application waits on it.
  4. Fill in, upload, check every file, then submit — and confirm the status changed.
  5. Keep checking the portal after submitting; that is usually where the decision appears.

Important links

Each university runs its own application system, so there is no single site to link. The picker sends you to the individual portal for the university you choose.
